Abell Planetary Nebulae SDB (Sky Database)

This file contains the commonly referenced 86 "Abell Planetary Nebulae". See the article Observe all of the Abell planetary nebulae in the June 2011 issue of Astronomy Magazine

To install:

  1. Download and unzip the files in this archive to the SDBs folder of TheSkyX's Application Support Files
  2. From TheSkyX, click the Database Manager command from the Input menu.
  3. Expand Sky Databases, then My Sky Databases and turn on the appropriate checkbox for this SDB.
  4. Once the downloaded file has been unzipped/extracted to the folder above it will appear in TheSkyX under Input>Database Manager>Sky Databases (SDBs)>My Sky Databases. To enable the SDB place a check here.

This database is a custom database of the 86 Abell Planetary nebula. Where each position and size has been scrutinized to ensure very good sizes and positions for all 86 objects. # NOTE. Out of these 86 objects at least 4 are flagged as not being Planetaries. They are:

Abell PN #11 - Possibly a reflection nebula
Abell PN #32 - Photographic plate fault
Abell PN #76 - Galaxy ring shaped PGC 85185
Abell PN #85 - Super Nova Remnant "Green G116.9+00.2"
